1. Product Overview

     I-type joint, also known as cylinder piston rod single ear / U-clevis connector, is used for hinged connection between cylinder piston rod and loads. It allows ±5° swing within one plane. Featuring simple installation and excellent tension & compression resistance, it is the most common end fitting for standard pneumatic cylinders.


2. Structure & Key Features

     • Profile: Cylindrical body with single ear hole (U-shaped opening); female thread at tail to screw onto piston rod.

     • Function: Low-cost articulated alternative to Y-type clevis and rod end bearing; small angle swing compensates alignment errors during installation.

     • Material: Carbon steel (blackened / nickel plated), cast iron, stainless steel. Pin hole requires matching pin and cotter pin.

     • Comparison Advantage: Cheaper than floating joint; higher rigidity and larger load capacity than rod end bearing.

  1) AirTAC standardF-M10×1.25I: F = accessory, M10×1.25 = thread specification, I = I-type clevis

  2) SMC standard (MBB / CA2 / CS1 series)

     • I-32: I-type clevis for 32mm bore cylinder

     • CA2-40-I: CA2 series, 40mm bore, I-type joint

  3) General domestic marking: I-M16×1.5: Thread M16×1.5, suitable for 50/63mm bore cylinders

5. Installation Guidelines

  1. Screw the female thread of I-type clevis onto external thread of piston rod, tighten for anti-loosening. Anaerobic thread locker is optional.

  2. Align load side ear lug with single ear hole of I joint, insert pin, install cotter pins at both ends to prevent pin falling out.

  3. Application: Push-pull load, linear guide, flipping mechanism. Not recommended for high-speed / high-frequency swing applications (rod end bearing preferred).
